Our team consists of two naturopathic doctors, an IV specialist, two registered nurses, an acupuncturist and a registered massage therapist. We are proud to provide patients with a multi-disciplinary approach to their health.
Dr. Kelly Austin N.D. – Clinic Director
Dr. Kelly Austin B.H.Sc. N.D. received her naturopathic medicine degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in 2004. She also holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from University of Western Ontario. During her studies, she volunteered at the London Health Science Center working with genetic counsellors, as well as at the Greater Niagara General Hospital assisting physical and occupational therapists.
Dr. Austin has worked in many corporate settings. She pioneered the use of naturopathic medicine at the Canada Post Office’s headquarters, treating over 500 employees as the only on-site naturopathic doctor. She also practiced at Nissan Canada’s headquarters, as well as at several fitness chains. She had the opportunity to speak at various corporate events to educate employees on nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, thus promoting productivity and general well-being.
Upon moving to San Diego in 2007, she established a family practice to treat all conditions. Her special interests encompass clinical nutrition, mental health, hormone balancing, and working with special needs patients. She has received specialized training in natural hormone therapy, prolotherapy, mesotherapy, autism therapies (DAN! — Defeat Autism Now) and IV therapy.
Dr. Austin engages in an active lifestyle as a fitness instructor, yoga teacher, road cyclist and long distance runner. A long time vegetarian, she enjoys putting together meal plans and counselling patients on their nutritional needs.
Dr. Karen Paquette N.D.
Dr. Karen Lee Paquette, N.D., P.T. received her naturopathic medicine degree from CCNM in 2005. After graduating, she also taught there as an associate professor for five years. Before becoming a Naturopathic Doctor, she received her Bachelor’s of Science in both Physical Therapy and Zoology from the University of British Columbia. She also worked in orthopedic and sports medicine for seven years.
Her special interests include preventative and lifestyle medicine, detoxification (including heavy metals), digestive health, weight loss, stress management and hormone balancing. She has special extensive training in chronic disease management, IV and chelation therapy, and bio-identical hormone therapy. As a certified life coach, she helps her patients reach their health goals through overcoming obstacles that have stopped them in the past.
Passionate about sharing her knowledge, Dr. Paquette authored her first book, Stop Being Stopped, The Go Doctor’s Guide to Unleashing a Healthier Sexier You! in 2008. She also enjoys delivering inspirational health-related lectures to the public.
In addition to a long personal history as an elite athlete, Dr. Paquette enjoys golfing and snowboarding, and is a two-time member of the support team for the summer Olympics.
Haunani Chong L.Ac., Dipl.O.M.
Haunani Chong graduated among the top of her class from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, receiving a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine. Haunani also holds a B.A. in Sociology from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. She is certified and licensed by the California Acupuncture Board and designated as a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). While interning at Pacific College Clinic, Haunani participated in many semester-long internships, including the Pacific College Clinic in New York City, the University of California San Diego’s Integrative Clinic, Rady’s Children’s Hospital Oncology and Chronic Pain department, and UCSD RIMAC Sports Medicine department.
As a recognized physician of Oriental Medicine in the State of California, she integrates her additional studies in athletic training, Ayurveda (Holistic Medical system of India), Hawaiian Healing, and yoga to allow for a deeper understanding of each client, a person’s condition and how to approach the treatment plan from a truly whole-person perspective.
You might also recognize Haunani from teaching yoga classes, leading workshops on holistic health, or volunteering her time with non-profit organizations in the San Diego and North County areas. She is an active leader and proponent for integrated, person-centered care that allows people to be treated as the unique individual that they are, rather than their disease.
